AR Demo
About this Game
Augmented Reality is a newer technology that hopefully will improve the lives of those who use it. This app is to help teach people how to interact in a society. It has three lessons using AR and 1 using an animated video. The three lessons are; how to ride the bus, keep a safe distance, and order food at a restaurant.
About the Development
This demo was created in collaboration with the Boise School district and is designed to teach students with learning disabilities skills in the community. Students would learn the skill in the classroom, such as how to order at a restaurant, then go out with a teacher and use the app to practice the skills. I developed this app with a group of about ten people. However, I was the only programmer for the AR portions. The rest of the people either did VR Development, Art, or Animation. I used Unity AR Foundation to be output for either Android or IOS for the app.
I loved working on this project because it was my first shipped product, and it was great working with the teacher for the project. We would meet weekly to demonstrate our progress and get feedback. I ended up being a sort of leader for the AR portion and so had to contact all the artists regularly for progress updates on assets and give feedback on their creations. One example of this was a plate someone made with over 3 million faces, which is a fun story.
